Major Cannon of Great Britain and America from 1780-1880. Cannons of this type were called sixpounders because the typical shot, a round iron ball 3.67 inches in diameter, weighed six pounds. It required a team of 5 cannoneers and was capable of firing solid ball shot 2 to 3 times per minute. Firing range was approx. 1,100 yards, or about 1 km.
